  • Links
  • Par 71
  • 6,720 Yards

Ruddy is a golf-writer and golf course designer whose work will be found also at such highly regarded venues as Ballyliffin (Glashedy), Druids Glen, Rosapenna, Port Salon, St. Margaret's, Donegal (Murvagh) and Montreal Island Golf Club.

The European Club, as the name suggests, is designed as and destined to be a major links and a major club. The links features 20-holes (two extra holes are in play most days) of exciting links golf through tumbling dunes with dramatic views of the Irish Sea from no fewer than sixteen of the holes! Some of the holes play along the beach!

“For me the argument of links golf v. parkland golf is resolved right here. How can you beat the sheer thrill of a magnificent, natural links like this? This is golf at its very best and most beautiful.” – Kevin Markham (Author of ‘Hooked’)

Local Knowledge
  • This course in fact has 20 holes. Pat created two additional holes as the terrain was just so perfect for this purpose. He numbered them 7A and 12A respectively.
  • Make sure to marvel at the 12th green. It is nearly 100 yards long so your distance needs to be spot on or your heading for three or even four putts!
  • This course, although relatively young in age can hold claim to being one of the top and most enjoyable courses to play in the British Isles.
